Top 5 Turks and Caicos Beaches

The odds are high that you’ll be spending most of your Caribbean escape to jaw-dropping Turks and Caicos on the white, sandy beach, snorkeling underneath the turquoise sea, and paddling inside a colorful kayak. Whether you’re planning a well-deserved romantic getaway, family vacation, or honeymoon to this tropical island paradise, you’ll quickly discover that there are over a dozen pristine Turks and Caicos beaches within minutes of our luxury Caribbean villas. Elite Destination Homes has nearly a dozen Caribbean vacation villas that are equally luxurious, dreamlike, and comfortable. Spend your days soaking in your private swimming pool, snorkeling in the ocean within feet of your villa, and indulging in authentic, tropical cuisine at a nearby restaurant.

The Best Turks and Caicos Beaches

To ensure that your long-overdue tropical getaway is nothing short of flawless, we’ve compiled five of our favorite Turks and Caicos beaches based on customer feedback and personal experience. Many of these undeniably beautiful Turks and Caicos beaches are within walking distance of our luxury Caribbean villas, so you’ll always be minutes away from a potential ocean adventure.

Taylor Bay Beach

turks and caicos beaches

We’re a bit biased because many of our Turks and Caicos villas, including Villa Calypso, Villa Sol y Luna, and Villa La Percha, are a short stroll from Taylor Bay Beach, but there’s no denying the serenity of this beautiful stretch of sand and sea. This shallow, kid-friendly beach is a bit off the beaten path, so you’ll rarely witness crowds of tourists. The water is so shallow that you can walk hundreds of feet from the shore and witness schools of fish meandering through the sea.

Sapodilla Beach

This calm, public beach is much more popular than Taylor Bay, but you won’t find a better spot to jet ski, kayak, or snorkel in Turks and Caicos. Villa Valentina is just a five-minute drive from Sapodilla. If you’re hoping to people watch, meet new friends, or revel in the friendly atmosphere of Turks and Caicos, Sapodilla is a splendid option.

Grace Bay Beach

Grace Bay Beach is easily the most popular beach on the island, so expect large crowds, music, and fast-moving watercrafts. But that shouldn’t stop you from visiting what many call the “best beach in the world.” Grace Bay has everything you’re looking for and so much more: white sand, schools of fish, palm trees, refreshing breezes, incredible scuba diving, and gorgeous sunrises. Tip of the Tail is the closest villa to Grace Bay, and it might just be the most beautiful vacation home on the island.

Half Moon Bay

turks and caicos beaches

What sets Half Moon Bay apart from most other Turks and Caicos beaches is the clear, turquoise waves. This undeveloped area remains a true hidden gem among travelers, especially for those looking for ample space to lay out under the sun. The waves are a bit stronger because of the beach’s north-facing locale, which is a lot of fun for those who’re hoping to kiteboard, kayak, or snorkel.

Leeward Beach

Leeward Beach is known for its golden sunsets, but this mostly-undeveloped locale is sensational during the morning and afternoon as well. Kiteboarding and birdwatching are two popular activities for vacationers (besides sunbathing, swimming, and reading).

Eating Healthy in Turks and Caicos

With a New Year quickly approaching, it’s time to start thinking about your next resolution. The three most common New Year’s resolutions are eating healthier, getting into shape, and losing weight. While all three go hand-in-hand, the first step should always be eating healthier. Once your body starts receiving proper nutrients, you’ll have more energy and a desire to work out, which will eventually lead to losing weight. Eating healthy is easier said than done with a week-long vacation scheduled on the most beautiful island chain in the world: Turks and Caicos. Tropical vacations usually lead to over-indulgence of rare snacks, sugary beverages, and hearty home-cooking. That’s why Elite Destination Homes is here to help with your New Year’s resolution of eating healthier. One of the easiest ways to eat healthy in Turks and Caicos is to cook your own meals in one of our luxury Caribbean villas overlooking the stunning Atlantic Ocean.

Healthy Turks and Caicos Restaurants

The easiest way to eat well in the Caribbean is to research the best health-conscious Turks and Caicos restaurants. Nearly every restaurant in Turks and Caicos has a healthy option or two, but most cannot match the menus at these three mainstays. Not only is da Conch Shack “one of the world’s best beach restaurants,” but they also sling delicious, healthy local fare. Fish and chicken are leaner alternatives to pork and beef, and da Conch Shack specializes in freshly-caught seafood and non-GMO chicken. Their bronze seared tuna is paired perfectly with sesame cucumber slaw and rice. Locals also love da Conch’s grilled chicken breast salad with locally-grown greens topped with house-made balsamic dressing. The fresh salmon, grouper, and wahoo at the elegant Caicos Cafe Bar & Grill are also to-die-for. Meanwhile, Lupo Restaurant has four spectacular salads, grilled mahi-mahi, and organic, market-inspired soups.

Best Health Food Stores

Health-conscious tourists can save money by cooking their own meals in one of Elite Destination Homes’ luxury Caribbean villas. Creating a home-cooked meal with fresh, local Caribbean ingredients can also be romantic, educational, and loads of fun. Graceway Supermarkets has three grocery stores within minutes of our Caribbean villa rentals. Both Graceway Gourmet in Grace Bay and IGA on Leeward Highway have an abundance of organic foods, fresh produce, and knowledgeable staff.

Healthy Recipes and Local Specialties

Return to one of our Caribbean vacation rentals with your organic grocery haul and start whipping up a home-cooked meal for your loved ones. For healthy recipes combined with local specialties visit EatingWell, where you’ll discover a Caribbean couscous salad, jerk chicken breast, spicy jerk shrimp, and tropical chicken salad wraps. Here in Turks and Caicos, we’re known for our mahi-mahi, tuna, rock lobster, and conch, often paired with local maize, sweet potatoes, grits, and beans.

Luxury Caribbean Villas

luxury caribbean villas 1The newly-renovated Villa Calypso has a premium chef’s kitchen steps from a lavish oceanfront pool. Villa Turquesa, our prized four-bedroom paradise, rests on the shores of Sapodilla Bay. This gorgeous estate is a unique blend of luxury and laidback island allure. Visit our extensive website to view all of our luxurious oceanfront Turks and Caicos properties. When you’re not enjoying a healthy dinner or cooking an authentic Caribbean meal, go for a swim in the warm, teal Atlantic and relax poolside in the most beautiful locale in the world.

Spend Christmas and New Year’s in Prague

The holidays are fast approaching, signifying it’s finally time to book that romantic or family getaway. Spending the holidays in Europe is growing into an affordable, feasible option, especially for those who live in the United States’ East Coast. According to U.S. News, Prague, Czech Republic’s capital city, is the “Best Affordable Vacation in Europe.” Unlike the touristy cities of Rome, London, Barcelona, and Amsterdam, Prague is never overcrowded, even during the holidays. Prague is known for its red-tiled roofs, breathtaking cathedrals, narrow streets, and lively Old Town Square. Spending Christmas and New Year’s in Prague has never been more appealing.

Visiting Prague

There are several essentials to remember when visiting Prague. Here’s a brief rundown of the basics to visiting Prague.

1. Locals speak Czech, a West Slavic language that isn’t spoken anywhere else in the world. Because Prague is a growing tourist destination, most people also speak English.

2. Remember to exchange currency for the Czech crown (koruna), not the euro.

3. The temperatures during the wintertime are usually in the 40s and sometimes the 50s, much like New York City or Boston. Dress accordingly.

4. The beer in Prague extremely inexpensive and delicious, so come thirsty.

5. Visit the main tourist locations, such as Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, and Old Town Square, during off-hours.

6. Prague’s public transportation system is accessible, cheap, safe, and reliable. You can use the subway, buses, or commuter trains. Avoid overpriced taxis.

7. Expect to walk a lot. Most notable attractions, restaurants, and cocktail bars are located within walking distance of each other. Stilettos and cobbled streets don’t mix.

8. Need more money? Use an ATM.

Things to Do in Prague During the Holidays

Czechs love Christmas and New Year’s just like the rest of us. Spend Christmas in Prague by visiting Old Town Square, where you’ll discover a massive, beautifully-lit tree and a holiday market. Purchase a bottle of mulled wine, a hunk of delicious, smoked Prague ham, and a bagful of crafts. The Wenceslas Square Christmas Market is less-traveled yet provides similar allure. Try to get caught in a light winter storm. Snowfall in Prague is a lovely scene, especially at night under the stars. The neighborhoods of Karlin, Vinohrady, Letna or Zizkov see much less tourism and are home to some of the area’s best cafes, pubs, and cocktail bars. New Year’s in Prague is a genuinely stunning spectacle as a dazzling fireworks display lights the night’s sky high above the Vltava River at midnight.

Luxury European Suites

After traveling through Prague, seek out one of Elite Destination Homes‘ luxurious homes in France, Scotland, or Italy. Don’t forget to visit Paris, the most romantic city in the world, around Christmastime or New Year’s Eve on your European getaway. We have five luxury vacation homes in Paris. Start planning a much-deserved European vacation by dialing 1-651-389-3843 today.

Safety in Cabo During Spring Break

It’s never too early to start planning a Spring Break getaway to Cabos San Lucas as March and April’s reservations typically fill extremely fast at this oceanside paradise. Cabo is widely known as the college Spring Break capital of the world. Not only does Cabo have some of Mexico’s best nightclubs, but it’s also a beautiful oceanside city worth exploring. Just like any popular Spring Break destination, there are some quintessential things to remember when traveling to a foreign country. Elite Destination Homes currently has an available world-class luxury vacation house, Casa Mar y Estrella, which overlooks the azure Pacific Ocean. We also have a few safety in Cabo tips for your week in paradise.

Safety in Cabo Tips

There are many things to consider before exploring Cabo San Lucas. For those who have visited Cabo, Spring Break is one of the most memorable getaways, but there are always those one-in-a-million occasions where someone gets hurt, robbed, or stranded. So, here are eight tips to having an incredible time at Cabo Spring Break.

Bring a copy of your passport. Passports, much like cash, phones, and wallets, tend to go missing quite a bit during Spring Break. Always have a backup plan.

Stick to touristy areas. Visit frequented areas such as beautiful Land’s End, shopping mecca San Jose del Cabo, and scenic Lover’s Beach.

Buy travel insurance. Many terrific travel insurance policies cover injury, illness, and emergency evacuations.

Don’t drive at night. Explore this beautiful region during the daylight. Casa Mar y Estrella has everything for a perfect night under the stars: hot tub, infinity pool, wine bar, fireplace, and rooftop deck.

Be careful when swimming. Cabo San Lucas’ rip currents and tides can be powerful. Stay close to the beach if you’re planning on jumping in for a refreshing swim.

Leave expensive jewelry at home. The U.S. State Department Travel Advisories believes flashy or expensive-looking jewelry makes you a target for potential theft.

Carry cash and emergency phone numbers. You don’t want to lose your credit card in any scenario. Always have emergency phone numbers available in case you lose your smartphone.

Travel in groups. Avoid traveling alone in Cabo, much like any other major city. Safety in Cabo is the name of the game.

Casa Mar y Estrella

You and seven of your best friends can spend a week in heaven during Cabo Spring Break at the Casa Mar y Estrella in nearby Puerto Los Cabos. The Casa Mar y Estrella, which sleeps eight comfortably, features a glamorous outdoor pool, pleasing open layout, luxurious furnishings, and beautiful artwork. The home rests on a tall hill, overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortés. It will be hard to pry yourself from this lavish palace during Spring Break – it’s that beautiful. Casa Mar y Estrella is the perfect place to recharge your batteries, each morning, before heading back to lively Cabo San Lucas. Dial 1-651-389-3843, or visit our detailed website for more details.

Traveling to Costa Rica During “Green Season”

dominical costa ricaTourists from across the globe have been woefully ill-informed for decades about Costa Rica’s “green” or “rainy” season, lasting annually from May to mid-December. People have hung onto the misconception that this stunningly beautiful country is a wet, muddy washout during the green season (Costa Rica’s winter). Yes, it does rain significantly more in comparison to the “dry” summer season, but the green season is exponentially more affordable, uncrowded, and colorful. Thanks to intricate, documented weather patterns, rainstorm arrival times are easily predicted in Dominical Costa Rica. Tourists take full advantage of significant discounts every green season at some of Central America’s most luxurious retreats – that’s where we come in! Elite Destination Homes proudly presents Casa Big Sur, a 9,000 square foot paradise overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean and the breathtaking southern coast of Costa Rica, including the natural Whale Tail at Marino Ballena National Park.

The Green Season

As mentioned above, the green season lasts from May to mid-December. Rain totals in Dominical Costa Rica are significantly lower than other tropical regions with rain totals barely reaching into the teens (inches) during May, June, July, and November. The green season weather patterns are easily foreseeable: each sunny morning will likely be followed by an hour or two of rain and a calm evening. Most seasoned tourists take these free hours to cook an elaborate lunch in their chef’s kitchen or make full use of the many onsite luxuries at Casa Big Sur, like our fully-equipped gym, Jacuzzi tubs, and covered balconies.

Reasons to Visit During Green Season

There are dozens of reasons to visit the stunning shores of Dominical Costa Rica during the offseason. Firstly, most lodging options, Elite Destination Homes included, offer incredible savings during the green season. Casa Big Sur is heavily discounted from May to mid-November! Save big by visiting during this beautiful “off-season.” Secondly, because tourists believe that Costa Rica is a sloppy wetland during the green season, the country is significantly uncrowded. You’ll be able to visit whatever you want and go wherever you want without being bogged down by long lines, congested roads, and crowded beaches. Lastly, the surrounding rainforest and mountainous countryside comes to life with genuinely stunning flora and fauna.

Luxury Vacation Home Rental

Casa Big Sur is genuinely a one-of-a-kind vacation experience on the scenic southwestern coast of Costa Rica. This tropical paradise sleeps ten and sits on nine secluded acres of lush forestry. The lavish outdoor infinity pool overlooks the awe-inspiring Pacific Ocean and 60 miles of coastline. Nearly every window inside this palace opens out to the vast jungle or sky blue ocean. Spend your mornings with a cup of award-winning Costa Rican coffee on one of the valley-view ensuite terraces before sunbathing on a nearby beach. You won’t see another soul at Casa Big Sur because it’s perfectly situated on a secluded cliffside. After you’re finished admiring the world-class craftsmanship of the home, explore the surrounding region with days filled with hiking, surfing, swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. Take advantage of our green season discounts in beautiful Dominical Costa Rica by dialing 1-651-389-3843 or visiting our meticulously detailed website.

Elite Destination Homes provides guests at the Adobe Zen House with complimentary concierge services to ensure that your stay is as relaxing and pleasant as possible.

The Zen House: Unmatched Beauty and Serenity

The well set Adobe Zen House rests in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain valley, overlooking the city of Taos. The scenic drive to town takes 10 minutes, yet it seems within arms reach from the estate. The property is encircled by emerald mountains and breathtaking unharmed desert wilderness. The interior of this massive adobe palace features hand-carved tables, cabinetry, and furniture with giant horizontal wooden beams on the tall ceilings.

The Zen House was featured on Sweet Retreats, a television program centered on the best vacation homes in the United States. The highlight of the home is the giant atrium complete with a zen garden. Buried deep inside the enclosure is a large crystal which creates a positive resonance. The atrium features a massive retractable glass ceiling, ideal for late-night stargazing. The private outdoor deck is equipped with a year-round eight-person hot tub and a Swedish sauna. Most people who stay here do not want to leave. To learn more about the Zen House, visit our detailed website.

Annual Artistic Fall Festivals

Plan a visit to the Adobe Zen House in autumn and partake in some of New Mexico’s best fall festivals. Witness one of the grandest spectacles on Earth: a hot air balloon rally. Watch dozens of colorful hot air balloons pierce the sky during the annual Taos Mountain Balloon Rally in late October. Immerse yourself in local artwork at the annual Taos Fall Arts Fest in late September to examine some of the Southwest’s best sculptures, paintings, photography, and prints. You also don’t want to miss the Taos Wool Festival, Taos Jazz Festival, or the Annual Feast Day at Taos Pueblo.

Historical Sites and Lush New Mexico Wilderness

Taos and the northern New Mexico high desert is steeped in cultural history dating back thousands of years. Taos Pueblo is one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in the U.S. and is believed to have been constructed over 1,000 years ago. Approximately 150 people still live inside of these ancient adobe homes. The Taos Art Museum showcases unique regional Pueblo Native American art as well contemporary work from local artists. The San Francisco de Asis in Ranchos de Taos is America’s most photographed and painted church. Outdoor enthusiasts spend multiple days in our vast natural wilderness as the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, Williams Lake, and Rio Grande Gorge provide a seemingly endless playground for hikers, kayakers, and whitewater rafters.

Look no further for your next Los Cabos luxury vacation, because world-renowned Elite Destination Homes has the premier rentals in coastal Mexico. Our lavish rentals are always a short ride from dozens of the world’s top golf courses. Choosing where to stay in Los Cabos is easy: Casa Mar y Estrella. Deciding where to play a round of golf is difficult. That’s where we come in.

PUERTO LOS CABOS

No Los Cabos luxury vacation is complete without a round of golf at Puerto Los Cabos. Designed by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, this 27-hole masterpiece has premier Sierra de la Laguna mountain and Sea of Cortez vistas. Hitting your Titleist out of one of their sandtraps will feel like a day at the beach. Every last hole has panoramic views of the ocean. No other course can match the majestic beauty at Puerto Los Cabos. Casa Mar y Estrella, our prized four-bedroom paradise, is steps away from this remarkable golf course. Estrella has a heavenly infinity pool overlooking the Sea of Cortez, a rooftop terrace with a fire pit, and a wine bar in the great room. It’s going to be difficult prying yourself from this oasis.

QUIVIRA GOLF COURSE

One of the world’s great courses rests on the cliffs of the Pacific, near the lively town of Cabo San Lucas. Quivira is equally a golfing treasure and a natural spectacle. Quivira is a challenging course, mainly because of the continual spectacular cliff-faces and rock-encrusted sand ridges. The course is a short distance from our cultural Hacienda Caroline, ocean-view Hacienda Medano and Tranquila, and beachfront Villa Bonita a la Estancia. These three vacation rentals all have one essential attribute in common: wow-factor.

PALMILLA GOLF CLUB

Palmilla Golf Club offers the same Sea of Cortez views as Quivira and Puerto Los Cabos, but you’re a touch closer to nature. It has three distinct nine-hole courses—mountain, ocean, and arroyo—and each has million-dollar views, pristine greens, and scenic natural surroundings. Palmilla’s cactuses splendidly stand out while the area’s architecture adds extra flair. Our fractional ownership property, Palmilla Retreat, is down the road from the golf course. This Los Cabos luxury vacation home is second-to-none. Guests at Palmilla Retreat have exclusive access to lively oceanside Club 96 and relaxing Espiritu Spa. The choice is simple: your next golf getaway will be on the jaw-dropping shores of Los Cabos.

Luxury Summer Retreat in Cabo

Luxury Summer Retreat in Cabo

Jennifer W.

What better way to celebrate summer than enjoying the pristine views of the ocean by rooftop, Off-Roading, or just laying with my feet planted in the sand. I had the privilege of heading to Cabo (Puerto Los Cabos) to check out a stunning Airbnb home and review it. Although this home was way more home than one person would need for traveling, it felt unbelievably comfortable, and intimate. I got to take in many of the rooms and observe the exquisite detail in the traditional decor of a Mexican vacation home.

My dear friend allowed me to take a few days to spend at his vacation home to review it, and blog about it! One of the many perks of the work I do as a business consultant is meeting, and working with clients, developers, and boutique hotels all over the world. I love traveling to new destinations, and by checking out their hot spots I get to share my genuine experience and thoughts with all of you.

To check out the gorgeous home I stayed at click this link!

One of my favorite Boutique Style Hotel’s in Cabo right down from the fishing pier. Their restaurant is quaint and offers an amazing breakfast menu to start your day. That cow creamer truly was one of a kind! Caroline is a wonderful manager, and friend. To me the best part of boutique hotels is getting to know the staff, and creating new friendships. La Marina Inn Cabo.

Styling and outfits by one of my favorite boutique stores Scout and Molly’s.

As most of you know when I travel to destinations I am mainly going to submerse myself into the rich culture, and enjoy exactly what the local’s enjoy.

Here are my top things to do if in Cabo, and you want to venture off as locals do.

Playa playa playa- Most locals get off on Sunday’s and use this as their beach day. There is so much beach to see that’s completely private, and desolate. I had the beach to myself for hours, and heard nothing but waves. The best way to get to the beach is by utilizing an off road ATV. Riding on the razor by far was one of the best experiences while traveling.

For an amazing rooftop view with a chill NYC vibe go to The Cape. It is by far one of the best rooftops I have ever been to. The acoustic music was just as divine.

I am not one to actually golf, but I love a stunning golf course, and enjoy the golf cart experience. If you are wanting to play a round on a Jack Nicholas designed course try out the stunning Puerto Los Cabos golf course! The owner of the airbnb has a membership, and can get you a discount if interested! PS. their taco stands along the course are insane!

Downtown San Jose del Cabo is also a fun spot to walk around and eat authentic Mexican food. They have traditional singers, and food to die for! It’s wonderful to run into locals and even tourists to see and hear about their experiences, and what they enjoy.

I am a huge fan of working remote from beautiful views. Fortunately this home was perfect for a lovely view while attending to work calls and emails. The roof deck was stunning to wake up to, and enjoyed taking in the full moon and stars at night. The pool was so peaceful and exactly what I needed when I would get a bit hot. The sound of the infinity pool and that view gets me every time. I am not one to enjoy the large all inclusive hotels due to wanting to be completely remote, and love the quiet to recharge. Airbnb homes offer that intimate experience without all the energy and people.

What I would recommend Cabo for overall-

A girls weekend, intimate family and friends wedding, honeymoon, birthday weekend getaway, or a nice work retreat!

Let me know if you want to hear more about my trip, and if you’ve ever been! Stay tuned as many new exciting hotels, and developments are being built in Cabo. It is quite the destination right now to visit. There are so many stunning hotels and places to check out and review.

Lacroix Pâtissier features delectable, handcrafted pastries, desserts, and snacks in a down-to-earth café setting with unbeatable views of the cathedral and river.

Absolutely try the locally roasted coffee and sourced tea. Both pair perfectly with their sizable macaroons and croissants. The friendly staff at A. Lacroix Pâtissier will greet you with a smile, and your sweet tooth will be forever satisfied. You’ll thank us later.

LE PROCOPE

No Paris vacation is complete without an afternoon meal at the city’s oldest café: Le Procope. Dine in maximal elegance in the main room, endowed with crystal chandeliers, 18th-century window drapes, and stunning French paintings.

Le Triomphe, located within walking distance of remarkable shopping and grandiose attractions, is a three-bedroom luxury apartment with a taste of the past. Rue Du Four and Rue Saints Peres are both in the St. Germain neighborhood, a lively, youthful area just meters away from the Luxembourg Gardens. These two apartments combine modern art, old-world charm, and magnificent street views. There’s no better time than now to explore the best city in the world.

3 Essential Items for your Beach Vacation to the Caribbean

The Caribbean is a magical place, with lush palms and vibrate flowers, where the ocean breeze and waves dance along the shoreline, this stunning beauty ultimately makes for an unforgettable getaway, and when you stay at one of our luxury Caribbean villas, you’ll find more than just the gorgeous views and lovely abodes. Packing for your vacation can seem tough at times, you never know what you might need when you head to the Caribbean, but here at Elite Destination Homes, we’ve got you covered, with our three essential items to pack for your beach vacation of a lifetime.

The Right Clothing

Everyone has to pack when traveling and it’s important to know how to pack for the places you’re staying. In the Caribbean, the temperatures are tropical and with most of the days being humid, having the right fabrics is crucial. Fabrics like rayon and synthetics don’t allow clothing to breathe, which can increase sweat and keep you warm. Breathable fabrics like cotton and linen are ideal for the Caribbean. As many items with these fabrics are lightweight and tend to wick moisture, you’ll be able to enjoy the entire day in what you’re wearing, plus clothing like this packs up small which means you’ll have more room in your luggage for other things.

Clothing can include:

  • Swimsuit
  • Beach cover-ups
  • Dresses: Sundress, Maxi Dress, Mini Dress
  • Rompers
  • Tops: Blouses, T-Shirts
  • Outerwear: Light Sweater, Lightweight Jacket
  • Bottoms: Jeans, pants, shorts, skirts
  • Undergarments
  • Shoes: Walking Shoes, Sandals, Heels/Wedges
  • Plastic Bag for wet clothing

The Essential Accessories

Accessories are must-haves at the beach, and there are so many to choose from when it comes to what you should have with you during your beach vacation. We recommend some reading material which can be useful on long plane rides or when you’re lounging poolside at one of our luxury Caribbean villas. A water bottle is also a must, so you don’t get dehydrated while you’re under the hot sun! If you want to float away in your pool, with style, purchase a fun floatation device, they are easy to fold and pack in a suitcase, and the fun shapes allow for sweet Instagram photos. Finally, you won’t want to forget your sunglasses and a hat! These items help protect your scalp and your eyes from the harsh sun rays.

Accessories:

  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Hair-ties
  • Book/magazine
  • Floating device
  • Water-bottle

The Items for Your Toiletries

Your third must have for the ultimate Caribbean getaway is sunscreen! SPF is excellent for those days you’re going to spend outside, even thirty minutes under the sun can cause damage, primarily if you’re not used to the heat. We also suggest you bring aloe vera for those days you spent too much time in the sun! You may also want to consider an insect repellent or a medicated ointment in case you get bit during your stay.

Toiletry Examples:

  • Facial toiletries: wipes, makeup removing wipes, face wash, moisturizer, eye cream
  • SPF Sunscreen
  • Aloe Vera for sunburn
  • Insect Repellent
  • Medicated ointment
  • Tooth Paste
  • Toothbrush
  • Deodorant
  • Shaving cream
  • Razor
  • Feminine care products
  • Tweezers, nail clippers
  • Safety Pins
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Body Lotion

Bonus: What You Need in Your Carry-On

When flying on a more extended trip, you’ll want to have a small carry-on bag with you and what you pack in that, is equally as important as your checked luggage! You’ll want to be prepared for delays, or in case your checked bag doesn’t make it right at your landing time. In your carry-on, you’ll want to have at least a 1-2 day/nights worth of clothing, accessories, and toiletries to help reduce stress levels in case of a luggage mishap.

Carry-on Examples:

  • Any necessary medications/allergy medicine
  • Pair of pajamas
  • 1-2 days of clothes
  • Extra undergarments
  • Toiletries in your approved liquids bag.
  • Water
  • A few granola bars, a bag of nuts and another snack, just in case.

No matter what you choose to bring with during your amazing Caribbean getaway, you’re going to want to be comfortable! View the extensive range of rentals and beautiful, luxury Caribbean villas at Elite Destination Homes, then when you use our checklists and guides, we can help you reduce stress from packing and bring back enjoyment and excitement towards your vacation!

Whale Watching: Best Spots in Mexico!

It whale be a good time

Whale watching in Mexico has become a top-rated event that takes place from November to April when California Gray Whales migrate South to warmer waters of the Pacific. You’ll find that when traveling to Mexico this time of the year you’re going to want to spot some of these majestic animals. When you reserve one of our fabulous luxury villas Los Cabos is known for, you’ll be in for a treat especially when it comes to catching a glimpse of these ocean creatures.

Luxury Villas Los Cabos

Some of the best views of potential whale sightings are from the windows of our very own luxury villas located in Los Cabos. As many of our rentals in Mexico allow beach access or views of the ocean, you’re going to want to book one for your stay so you can hang out in your private oasis while keeping your eyes peeled on the water for these ocean beauties.

Beach View

If you’re planning a day at the beach, opt to go to one of the South West beaches near Cabo San Lucas. The direction of these beaches facing South-West tends to have more sightings of whales than if you’re on the South-East side due to the proximity to the Pacific coast rather than the Gulf of California as many whales do not venture to that side of Baja California.

On the Ocean

If you’re wanting to dive into finding some whales while on vacation this spring, check out a charter boat? Charter boats or expedition rides will ensure you see some of these mighty beasts. Plus, you’ll get to experience the stunning panorama of the ocean. Here are three excellent charters to get you started on boat tours.

3 Things to do in Paris in the Wintertime

When thinking about a trip to Paris, France many people imagine the soft breeze of the spring and warm summer air, but one of the hidden gems of Pairs is that vacationing during the wintertime is unbelievable. Not only will you experience a stunning winter wonderland, but you’ll also get to experience the city without as many visitors. Plus, there are still plenty of fun things to do when you book an elite Paris getaway. Here are our top three favorite things to do in Paris when it’s cold outside!

Ice Skating on the Terrace

Paris and winter activities like ice skating go hand and hand, and there are lots of locations to skate. One of the most notable areas is the first-floor terrace of the Eiffel Tower. Featured with lovely winter decor, you can skate here until February 18, 2018. Don’t forget to check out The Cacao Corner where you’ll be able to warm up with tasty beverages such as hot chocolate.

Lots of Chocolate!

With Valentine’s Day coming up and the month of love, Paris makes for an unbelievably sweet getaway for two, especially when you stop at a cute cafe, pastry shop, or chocolatier. Sipping hot chocolate on the Eiffel Tower won’t compare to the decadently sweet and creamy warm treat of hot chocolate by Cafe de la Paix. Located right next to the fantastic Opera Garnier you’ll feel as if you stepped into another world with the decor featuring a mid-1800’s style. If you’re looking for something even more opulent, head to Angelina’s where your frothy hot chocolate will be served in pitchers and don’t forget to try their winter pastry collection which pairs perfectly with a warm beverage.

The Big Wheel

There is still plenty of time to see The Big Wheel in Paris, and with the stunning winter views, you’re sure to be in for a treat! Going on now, until May 5, 2018, you can hop aboard a gondola on one of the world’s most massive, movable Ferris wheels. Located at Place de la Concorde, this fantastic and sky-high option is only available during the winter season. So, you’ll want to go for a ride before it goes away, until next year!

No matter what you opt to do during your winter wonderland stay in Paris, France, Elite Destination Homes will make sure you get the most out of your vacation at one of our European rentals. Whether it’s skating on the Eiffel tower, searching for the best hot chocolate and treats, or you marvel at the view, your elite Paris destination vacation is waiting!
