STAY AND PLAY IN PALM SPRINGS
Palm Springs is the premiere vacation location, 365 days a year. Whether you are looking for a family-friendly excursion, a glamorous girl’s weekend, or simply a place to relax and escape, Palm Springs has it all. Located at the base of the majestic San Jacinto Mountains, Palm Springs offers exquisite culture, nightlife and fine dining, all in the world’s most extensive outdoor playground.
Bask in the Light of the Stars
Palm Springs has served as a getaway for celebrities since the golden age of Hollywood in the early 1920’s. Located just under two hours from Tinseltown, it serves as the perfect escape for many celebs – several of whom have homes in and around the area. Palm Spring’s proximity to Hollywood gave rise to the infamous “Two-Hour” Rule. Actors who were still under contract had to remain within two hours of the studio, in the event that a re-shoot was needed.
Cultural Strains
Palm Springs has long been influenced by the culture of its earliest settlers- the ancestors of the Agua Caliente Cahuilla Indians. They formed complex settlements and communities in the area that has become Palm Springs, many of which still exist today. In 1876, the U.S. Federal Government formed the Agua Caliente Reservation, and deeded a slice of the lands to the So. California Railroad. Today, a portion of the reservation remains within city limits.
A Modern Vision
Desert Modernism, a unique form of Architecture, found its birthplace in the Coachella Valley. The dramatic environment, intense climate and necessity of conservation inspired architects to create structures that mimicked their surroundings. Desert Modernism is characterized by the use of glass, manufactured materials, clean, modern lines and indoor/outdoor spaces.
An Eclectic Palate
Find your craving with the varied and worldly cuisine offered in Palm Springs. Whether you are seeking to grab a quick bit at a café, happy hour poolside, or a night out at one of the many fine dining establishments, Palm Springs will not disappoint.
